Customer Spotlight!

Page MamaBee…you are wanted on stage…front and center!  That’s right – MamaBee is in the Customer Spotlight this month.  While cruising through Zoe’s gallery at Sweet Shoppe I came across two layouts by Rebecca (Mamabee) that were created for June’s Portfolio.  I really love how Rebecca used the kits to the fullest and managed to create both layouts without photos.  These are just fabulous – take a look!

It’s A Hybrid Day…

… here on the blog and I have a really quick project to share with you.  I made this note book for my brother but now it’s finished I think I want to keep it for myself

ssd-zp-monster-notes-1

It’s very easy to make and very cute :)

First cut your chipboard sheets for the front and back

1

Create the image for the front in photoshop, print and trim and glue to the chipboard pieces. Print additional paper to cover the inside and outside of the front and back covers.

2

3

Give the edges a light sand then cut the paper for the pages of your notebook, my pages are a quarter inch smaller than the covers on three sides

I used my Bind-It-All to punch the holes (lots of scrapbook shops will bind your projects or you could punch holes and use book rings)

5

6

Then bind with colour coordinating wires

7

I think that little monster is so cute so I’ve made him a more prominant design feature by printing a second image, cutting it out and using dimensional foam pads to raise him off the background

8

And then I gave him goggley eyes :)

9

I used Zoe’s Monster Mash kit available in the Sweet Shoppe here

Customer Spotlight

I love browsing Zoe’s designer gallery at SSD; there are so many amazing layouts featuring Zoe’s products! This one by litabells really jumped out at me today:

ZPearn_BlogFeature

Isn’t the design stunning?! The shadows are great, and the way she used that kit totally rocks! Congrats, litabells, for being in the spotlight! I’ll pm you soon with a code for some Zoe goodness.  And for the rest of you, be sure to upload your layouts with Zoe’s stuff in her designer gallery at SSD, and you could be featured next!

It’s Template Time

It’s that time again, time for a template freebie on Zoe’s CT blog.  I can’t believe it is already June and the 2nd week of June.  I was so looking forward to DS being done with school and for summer to be here, but I have a bad feeling that the summer will just fly by like the rest of the year.

So here is the LO that the template is based off of.  Have fun with it, spin it, flip it, shrink it (that’s even a portfolio challenge this month).  Whatever you want, but have fun with it.

June Desktop Freebie!

I hope everyone is enjoying their warm weather, or I guess cold if you’re in other parts of the world.  It’s been very warm here in Michigan, mid to upper 80’s, I feel like I’m heating to death since our current home doesn’t have AC.

Anyhow, here is the June Desktop, using parts of Summer Meadow, I used only the pieces Zoe created for that beautiful Songbird Avenue kit, so you’ll have to go check it out.  Please ignore my spelling mistake on the preview, I know benefit is missing an “e”.

Game Night!

Hello Hello!!  Can you believe May is almost over :(   This year is passing by so quickly, sometimes I wish I could just make time stand still.  For us, this marks the last week of school, which seems impossible.  Memorial Day weekend is here already, hopefully everyone has plans or maybe just sitting at home and relaxing.  Anyway…
it’s time for Game Night here on Zoe’s CT blog, so I decided to do a preview scavenger hunt.  So head over to Zoe’s shop and see if you can find all 16.  Once you do, send me over an e-mail with your answers to ajf9597 at hotmail dot com with Zoe’s Scavenger Hunt in the title for a chance to win a coupon to Zoe’s store!  You have until Sunday, May 30 at midnight central and then a winner will be picked and posted.

Ready, Get Set, Go!!

Paper Flowers …

Hi, it’s Andrea here taking over the blog for the day with my gluestick and my scissors :)

Today I want to share with you how to make these gorgeous paper roses that I made to decorate a special birthday card.

zoe-paper-rose-2

I used a 3 inch 6 petal flower punch to punch 3 flowers from printed papers. You could freehand draw the flowers and cut them out but the punch just makes life quick and easy. However you do it your flower needs 6 petals.

1

Fold each flower in half across each petal to find the centre

2

Take the first flower, cut along to the centre then spread glue over one petal, fold the adjoining petal over onto the glue and hold for a few seconds until it is fixed

3

Take the second flower and totally cut off one petal. Add glue and repeat the process to fold over the petals

4

Take the third flower and remove two petals, glue and fold to join the flower together

5

You now have 3 layers of a paper flower. Take each layer and gently smooth the edges over to curl each petal

6

Next take the pieces of flower that you cut off. Roll the piece with two petals around gently to make a funnel shape and glue to fix. Repeat with the single petal

7

Now you have all the elements to build your flower

8

Before glueing the layers together take each of the large layers in turn, place your thumb in the centre and gently squash the bottom of the flower to flatten it off

10

12

13

Take the smaller layers and cut off the pointy end, stack all the layers together and glue using a strong runny glue

15

Take some stamens (I buy mine from a cake decorating shop), twist them together add colour to the ends with a marker pen and glue into the centre of the flower

16

17

11

To hide the glue in the centre of the flower I sprinkled coordinating glitter onto the glue and then tipped it out when dry

9

Now all you have to do is chose what to do with your flower. I used mine to embellish a special card for a friend but you could add it to a gift bag, decorated box etc.

Behind the Page – Guilty As Charged

Yes, that’s right….I’m guilty. What is the crime, you ask? Well, I’m guilty of going days, sometimes even a week (shudder!) without taking any photos of my kids. Then I take too many photos of them all at the same time.

And if your kids are as wonderfully cute as mine – and I’m more than positive that they are (wink!) – you just can’t seem to delete any or even choose just one or two to scrap.

That’s what happened with this page:

Sweetie-Pie

I had my camera in the car and when we got home from school, I just started snapping photos.  Claire was so cute and giggly, plus the afternoon lighting was great –  I just couldn’t help but keep snapping away!

Luckily, Zoe had a photo strip in this kit, Spring Fling, and I was able to use four of the photos I took that afternoon!

So, my advice is this… when you can’t narrow down the number of photos you want to use, find a creative way to use them all!
