Crossing Over To Hybrid
If you are a digi girl who wants to try hybrid then this post is for you (if you’re a traditional papercrafter or already do hybrid then you might learn something too!)
When you were first starting digital scrapping you learned all the techniques and shortcuts you needed to make life easier when creating a layout and these are just as important in hybrid crafting so don’t forget about them. Now, I am not a digi girl (I have made 9 digital layouts in the whole of my life) but I have borrowed some shortcuts from the digi world and I use them all the time to make my cards.
Create a new document in photoshop at the size you want your card to be and then use the cookie cutter tool – did you forget about that one? – and choose the star shape.

Drag the star until it fills your document, this will make the base of your card

Now use another of your digi tools to clip your patterned paper. Add a paper layer, make sure it is above the star shape in your list of layers then use the ctrl g command to clip your paper to the star shape

Create your card on the screen by repeating the star process with a coordinating paper and adding numbers, a journalling strip and some text to add the recipients name. By doing it all on screen you can resize the elements to make a good fit

Next I created a document the same size as my printer paper and dragged each layer onto it

After this it’s simply a case of printing, cutting and joining together to make a fabulous star shaped card

There are lots of shapes in the cookie cutter option in photoshop that can be used to create shaped bases for your cards.
